Clean without the scouring
Roof Soft Washing in Riverview
Dark streaks running down the slopes make a roof look older than it is, and that is exactly what catches an inspector's eye. We clear algae, moss and debris at low pressure, keeping the granules on the shingle and out of your gutters.

Why low pressure matters
Granules stay put
A pressure washer can blast off the mineral layer an aging shingle relies on. A soft wash cleans without that cost.
Growth comes off
Algae streaks and moss are cleared from the surface rather than smeared around it.
The yard is covered
Plants, beds and surfaces around the house are protected while we work.
What grows on a Riverview roof
Long, humid summers and shade from big oaks give algae and moss an easy life, especially on a north-facing slope. The black streaks are mostly cosmetic at first, but moss holds moisture against the shingle and lifts tab edges as it spreads, and debris piled in the valleys slows water on its way to the gutter. A soft wash clears all of it gently. It often comes first before shingle rejuvenation, because the treatment needs a clean surface to soak into, and it is the opening step of tile cleaning and sealing as well.
The dark staining that makes a roof read as old is taken off.
Growth that traps damp at the tab edges is cleared away.
Leaves and debris are cleared so water runs off as it should.
How it works
How a soft wash runs
Protect
Beds, shrubs, outdoor furniture and nearby surfaces are covered or wetted first.
Clear
Heavy moss and loose debris are taken off first, valleys included, before any washing starts.
Wash
A low-pressure cleaning pass works over the slopes, followed by a gentle rinse.
Check
We walk the roof afterwards and tell you whether it is ready for treatment.
Soft washing questions
Will washing harm an older roof?
Not at low pressure. That is the reason we soft wash rather than pressure wash. The aim is to remove growth while leaving the granules where they are.
Do I need a wash before treatment?
If algae, moss or debris is sitting on the shingles, yes. We will say so during the assessment.
Ready to lose the streaks?
Call and we will look at what is growing up there, explain what clearing it involves, and price it at the visit.
